Jingjiang Special Steel: the former VALIN Wuxi Steel within CITIC

Why the historic VALIN Wuxi Steel identity now appears within a CITIC operating group.

Ownership, naming and historical context

CITIC Pacific Special Steel’s official chronology says it acquired VALIN Wuxi Steel in 2018 and renamed it Jingjiang Special Steel. The historical Wuxi name is therefore a legitimate documentary clue, but not evidence that every company trading under “Wuxi” is this mill.

Products and manufacturing scope

This profile covers a specific former VALIN Wuxi operating works. Product categories and available standards must be confirmed by contemporary company technical documents, not inferred from the parent’s whole portfolio.

Common confusion to avoid

Avoid confusion with similarly named Wuxi stockists and trading companies. The previously deferred general “WUXI” sourcing topic remains outside this article.

Procurement takeaway

Cross-check historical MTC legal names and current plant identity, especially for older approvals and stock originating before the 2018 transition.

Practical mill-verification checklist

• Exact registered Chinese/English producer name, plant address, MTC issuer and heat traceability.
• Current parent, direct shareholder and historic names at relevant documentary dates.
• Melt source, steelmaking/rolling route and the product actually made at that site.
• Grade, size, heat-treatment and current product/certification scope for the exact works.
• EPC/end-user qualification for the mill and specific product, not just group marketing.
• Quotation issuer versus producer/exporter and certificate authenticity.
