Ask MetalMate

When you send a question, its text and the current conversation are sent through MetalMate to OpenAI. A selected Knowledge article or Grade Guide record may accompany the question. Web search may be used for current information; search queries can contain information derived from your question. Do not include secrets, personal data or confidential customer information.

Conversations are held in this page’s memory and clear on reload. The API requests store: false. This does not mean zero retention: OpenAI’s standard abuse-monitoring retention may still apply. Hosting request logs may also exist; the operator has not yet published a complete retention schedule.

Automated intelligence and feedback

The Content Engine processes public-source material server-side. Source metadata, limited evidence, generated versions and private owner actions are stored in PostgreSQL when configured. Feedback is private and may include an optional comment; do not submit personal or confidential information. A daily keyed hash of the hosting-provided network address limits abuse and distinguishes reports. Rate-limit buckets expire within 15 minutes for login and one hour for feedback; feedback reporter hashes are cleared after 30 days during engine maintenance. Raw addresses are not stored by this feature. Hosting logs have separate retention. Feedback never directly changes factual content.

MTO Analyzer

Local parsing does not send pasted material data to an external AI service. AI-assisted parsing sends it to OpenAI only after the existing confirmation step. MTO data is not sent to web search. Results remain in page memory. The full MTO disclosure remains available in the analyzer.

Provider and browser storage

OpenAI API data is not used for model training by default unless the API organization opts in. Standard abuse-monitoring logs may be retained for up to 30 days, subject to the organization’s controls. Legacy Watchlist preferences are stored on this browser, not synced to an account.

Web analytics

MetalMate uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure aggregate traffic and the performance of its commercial sourcing placements: page views, referring sites, general device/region information, and a small set of custom events (sourcing promotion views, sourcing promotion clicks and email-contact clicks). It is cookieless and does not build cross-site profiles, and custom events carry only a service identifier and a page placement. Analytics is disabled on the staging environment and on private routes, and never records uploaded documents, AI conversation content, enquiry details, email addresses, project names, MTO contents or individual buyer identities. Events are processed by Vercel as hosting provider. Cookieless aggregate analytics reduces, but does not by itself remove, every GDPR or German ePrivacy (TDDDG) obligation; the applicable legal basis, any consent requirements and retention remain subject to owner/legal review.

Outstanding operator information

Operator and privacy contact: AA Javani, Rispenweg 17, 50933 Köln, Germany; anam@javani.net. Applicable legal bases, hosting/log retention, international-transfer information and the complete rights-request process still need final review.

Sourcing assistance

Commercial steel sourcing enquiries are handled by Commerciale Tube Acciai S.p.A. (CTA), MetalMate’s current commercial execution partner. MetalMate.ai is an independent platform and is not owned or operated by CTA; the execution partner may change in future. This feature adds no registration, no document upload and no RFQ database, and MetalMate does not automatically forward your Ask MetalMate conversations, MTO results or other content to CTA. Contacting CTA opens your own email application only when you click the email action; the message is sent through your email provider on its normal terms and is not made encrypted or confidential by this feature. Any purchase contract is between you and CTA on its agreed terms and applicable protections; this page does not promise a specific governing law or jurisdiction. Do not send confidential information unless your organisation permits it.
