Corporate names appear differently on RFQs, old stock MTCs and current approval lists. The legal manufacturer and works take precedence over a generic brand name.

POSCO ecosystem

POSCO Holdings → POSCO → Pohang/Gwangyang steelworks. Group ownership does not identify the exact production line.

Hyundai Steel

Hyundai Steel operates a mix of integrated and electric-furnace production routes. Group-wide manufacturing descriptions must be narrowed to the works, product and standard under contract.

Dongkuk restructuring (2023)

Dongkuk Holdings → Dongkuk Steel (hot rolled) and Dongkuk CM (cold rolled/coated). Compare historic manufacturer names against the original MTC date before declaring a discrepancy.

SeAH structure

SeAH corporate group profile → pipe-focused SeAH Steel and specialty-metals businesses including SeAH Besteel and SeAH CSS. Their holding and operating-company labels differ. Their MTCs and certificates are not interchangeable.

SeAH Steel Holdings is the listed holding-company identity; SeAH Steel is the operating welded-pipe producer. Certificates and MTCs name the operating entity, not the holding company.

Hyundai affiliates

Hyundai Steel Pipe is a dedicated welded-pipe identity linked to Hyundai Steel; the pipe works and its approvals are not the group’s whole range. Hyundai BNG Steel is a Hyundai Motor Group affiliate for cold-rolled stainless sheet — do not attribute its stainless capability to Hyundai Steel’s plate or section works.

Similar and related names to keep separate

Husteel and HISTEEL are separate legal manufacturers with similar names; never merge their certificates or offers. NEXTEEL (welded OCTG/line pipe) and ILJIN Steel (seamless and precision tube) are distinct producers. KISCO / Korea Iron & Steel is separate from similarly named overseas entities, and Fine Besteel is a manufacturer of rolled sections rather than a distributor.

Four questions before accepting a quotation

  1. Who is the actual registered manufacturer and which plant will issue the MTC?
  2. Is the named entity a holding company, operating mill, pipe mill or trader?
  3. Is the claimed certificate valid for the specific factory, product and dimension?
  4. Does the EPC/end user approve that exact manufacturing site?
