South Korea’s steel industry combines large integrated steelmakers, electric-furnace long-product producers, welded-pipe specialists, and high-value special-steel operations. The first sourcing decision is to identify what the company actually manufactures rather than relying on a familiar group brand.
The two large integrated producers
- POSCO Holdings is a parent group, while POSCO is the operating steel producer with major works at Pohang and Gwangyang.
- Hyundai Steel supplies heavy plate, flat steel and important structural sections including H-beams and sheet piles.

Dongkuk’s split

The SeAH corporate map separates welded SeAH Steel from SeAH Besteel special bars/forgings and SeAH CSS specialty and seamless products. Never assume product approvals pass automatically across affiliates.
Pipe, flat and section specialists
The KR-02 batch adds specialist manufacturers that are often confused with larger groups:
- SeAH Steel Holdings is the holding-company identity; SeAH Steel is the operating welded-pipe producer. Keep them separate, and separate again from SeAH Besteel and SeAH CSS.
- Hyundai Steel Pipe is a dedicated welded-pipe identity linked to Hyundai Steel; the pipe works and its approvals are not the group’s whole range.
- Husteel and HISTEEL are separate legal manufacturers with similar names; never merge their certificates or offers.
- NEXTEEL covers welded OCTG and line pipe; ILJIN Steel covers hot seamless and precision cold-drawn tube.
- KG Steel (cold-rolled/coated/tinplate flat), Hyundai BNG Steel (cold-rolled stainless sheet), KISCO / Korea Iron & Steel (EAF billets and rebar) and Fine Besteel (angles, channels and rolled sections) complete the specialist coverage.
